DePuy Launches Software for Computer-Assisted Hip Surgery

July 30, 2007

DePuy Orthopaedics, a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary, announced the September launch of computer software designed to enhance the field of computer-assisted hip replacement surgery.

The technology lets surgeons visualize parts of the patient’s anatomy not visible through the incision, without the need for computed tomography or fluoroscopy, DePuy said.

The Ci Essential Hip System allows greater precision in implant positioning by giving surgeons new ways to address leg-length discrepancies and adjust offset within millimeters in real-time, the company said.
