H.R. 1 Passes House, Would Cut FDA Funding by $241 Million
After debating into the wee hours of Saturday morning, the House voted 235-189 to pass H.R. 1, the continuing resolution that would fund the FDA through fiscal 2011 at $3.31 billion, cutting about $241 million from the agency’s fiscal 2010 appropriations. The measure would allocate $895 million to CDER and $297 million to CBER for a total of $1.2 billion in funding for the agency’s prescription drug regulatory programs, of which $667 million would be derived from user fees. H.R. 1 now goes to the Senate, which is expected to vote after members return from recess Feb. 28.
