House Subcommittee Sets Lower CDRH Funding for Fiscal 2013
The House Appropriations Committee subcommittee that oversees FDA funding recommends fiscal 2013 appropriations that would slightly reduce agency spending. A full committee markup of the bill, as yet unnumbered, hasn’t been scheduled but is expected later in June. At a June 6 markup, the Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies proposed allocating $2.48 billion for the agency in fiscal 2013 — $16 million below what it is currently receiving and far less than what President Barack Obama has called for.
