Nabi Biopharmaceuticals Announces NicVAX Data
Nabi Biopharmaceuticals announced nine-month data from its Phase IIb trial of NicVAX, the company’s investigational vaccine to treat nicotine addiction and prevent smoking relapse. According to Nabi, the data demonstrate NicVAX’s (nicotine conjugate vaccine) efficacy in supporting continuous abstinence rates by dose and antibody response. The company said that it was able to determine what it believes is the most effective dose and schedule for NicVAX and determine the antibody concentration threshold for clinical efficacy. NicVAX demonstrated a nine-month continuous abstinence rate of 20 percent versus 6 percent for placebo. The most effective dose selected was 400 micrograms, the company added. |
