Glenmark Adds Trandolapril Tabs to Its Generic Stable
Glenmark Generics, a subsidiary of Indian drugmaker Glenmark, has received FDA approval for its ANDA to market a generic version of Abbott Laboratories’ blood pressure drug Mavik in 1-, 2- and 4-mg strengths. Glenmark will join eight other companies in marketing generic Mavik (trandolapril), which had sales of more than $23 million for the 12-month period that ended in March, according to IMS Health. Earlier this month, Glenmark won approval for generic versions of Schering-Plough’s Elocon (mometasone furoate) ointment and cream and Bristol-Myers Squibb’s diabetes drug Glucophage (metformin HCl). Glenmark’s generic Elocon cream and ointment are topical corticosteroids to relieve inflammatory skin conditions. Based on IMS data, sales for mometasone furoate products were more than $29 million for the 12 months ending in March. Sales for metformin HCl tablets for the same time period were more than $158 million, according to Glenmark. Glenmark has 33 generic products on the U.S. market and more than 35 ANDAs pending at the FDA, according to the company. |
