Google-Sponsored Links Become DDMAC Enforcement Target
Fourteen drugmakers have received untitled letters from the Division of Drug Marketing, Advertising and Communications (DDMAC) about sponsored links on internet search engines promoting nearly 50 drugs. For example, Sanofi-Aventis was cited for sponsored links featuring its blood-thinner Plavix (clopidogrel bisulfate) because it failed to use the required established name of the drug or listed the drug’s name and efficacy information without warning of risks, Sanofi’s untitled letter says.
