AstraZeneca has ramped up production of its beta-blocker Toprol-XL and is removing certain restrictions it established for purchases of the drug because demand for the brand increased after recalls by generic competitors facing quality issues. The company removed the restrictions it placed on Toprol-XL purchases for the retail trade last month. As the only manufacturer of the product now, AstraZeneca is producing enough of the product to meet “historical demand,” it said.
