China Shutters Shoddy Drugmakers in Wake of Chromium Capsule Scare
A number of drugmakers in China are being ordered to power down production lines and hand over their licenses for producing capsule-based drugs after a crackdown on chromium contamination by the country’s regulatory agency. Some 13 percent of all drug-capsule makers in China were producing products with excessive, unsafe levels of chromium, China’s State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) found.
