Senate Passes PDUFA Bill; Now Awaits Obama’s Signature to Become Law
The bill reauthorizing the Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) for another five years is now headed to President Barack Obama’s desk to be signed into law after the Senate voted 92–4 to pass the FDA Safety and Innovation Act, S. 3187, Tuesday afternoon. Industry groups and key lawmakers had pushed for a mid-summer passage, leaving plenty of time for the FDA to implement new programs before PDUFA’s current authorization expires Sept. 30.
