Expert: Manufacturers in Two Indian States More Likely to Produce Substandard Drugs
Drug manufacturers in the Indian states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are more likely to produce substandard or falsified drugs than those in more regulated Indian states, an expert says. Corruption in the two states appears to be higher than in other states, Roger Bate, scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, has found. For example, New Delhi police told Bate of an armed standoff in Haryana where the state police were bribed by a drug counterfeiter to protect the company.
