Court Upholds $10.4 Million Award in Prempro Suit
An appellate court has ordered Pfizer to pay $10.4 million in damages to a woman who developed breast cancer after taking the menopause drug Prempro. In a 30-page decision handed down July 20, the Pennsylvania Superior Court refused to set aside damages awarded to Audrey Singleton, whose lawyers alleged that Pfizer’s Wyeth unit hid health risks to women taking Prempro (conjugated estrogens/medroxyprogesterone acetate).
