FTC OKs GPhA’s Plan to Reduce Drug Shortages With FDA
The Generic Pharmaceutical Association’s (GPhA) plan to help the FDA deal with drug shortages should launch in the coming weeks, after the FTC found it will not be anticompetitive as sensitive information will be protected. GPhA’s plan, called the Accelerated Recovery Initiative, aims to provide the FDA with more production planning and supply chain information from generic manufacturers. Due to the sensitivity of the information, IMS Health was tapped as an impartial third party to collect and transmit it to the FDA in a monthly report.
