IMS Health: Generic Drug Use Saves $734 Billion Over Decade

Generic pharmaceutical use has saved the American healthcare system more than $734 billion in the 10 years from 1999–2008, according to a study commissioned by the Generic Pharmaceutical Association. Use of generic drugs saved the U.S. healthcare system $121 billion last year — an increase of about 20 percent over the previous year, according to the report.
