House Subcommittee OKs FDA 2013 Spending Bill; Full Panel Vote Later
June 14, 2012
The House appropriations subcommittee that oversees FDA funding recommends fiscal 2013 appropriations that would slightly reduce agency spending. A full-committee markup of the bill, as yet unnumbered, hasn’t been scheduled but is expected later in June. At a Wednesday markup, the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies subcommittee proposed allocating $2.481 billion for the agency in fiscal 2013 — $16 million below what it’s currently receiving and far less than what President Barack Obama has called for.
