Swiss-based Debiotech has gained an exclusive rights option for Wilsonville, Ore.-based iSense’s continuous glucose monitoring sensors. Debiotech plans to outfit its JewelPump disposable insulin patch pump with the sensors, hoping to create a functioning artificial pancreas.
The JewelPump is capable of carrying 500U insulin for up to seven days. While the device is meant for single-use, the remote control smartphone component lasts for two years.
In November, the FDA approved Dexcom’s artificial pancreas software for its G4 Platinum continuous glucose monitor. — Jason Scott
