Xenios Wins CE Mark for Cardiac Assist System
Heilbronn, Germany-based Xenios has received CE marking for its i-cor synchronized cardiac assist system for distribution in the EU.
The device is a heartbeat-synchronized cardiac assist designed for cardiogenic shock and high-risk interventions.
It features a miniaturized pump, which assists the weakened heart with synchronized pulses that are superimposed over a patient’s weakened heartbeats, resulting in improved coronary blood flow and limited afterload compared with conventional methods.
The device is not cleared for sale in the U.S. — Michael Cipriano
