Canada Gives Thumbs Up to AngioDynamics’ Celerity PICC Tip Confirmation System With Navigation
Health Canada has blessed AngioDynamics’ Celerity PICC tip confirmation system with navigation for the positioning of peripherally inserted central catheters in adult patients, the company announced.
Celerity with navigation offers enhanced features to the previous version of the tip location system — including real-time catheter tracking — allowing clinicians to see the location of the PICC tip at all times.
The approval marks the first clearance for the extended Celerity PICC tip confirmation system with navigation technology. AngioDynamics anticipates having the product commercially available during the company’s fiscal fourth quarter.
The company filed for FDA 510(k) clearance last November. It hopes to receive good news from the agency before the end of the fiscal year. — Jonathon Shacat
