St. Jude Medical Rebuffs Vulnerability Claims on Cardiac Devices
September 1, 2016
St. Jude Medical is disputing allegations that its cardiac devices are susceptible to cyber attacks after an investment firm issued a report on the device vulnerabilities last week.
The report misidentified the company’s security lockout feature as a crash, St. Jude Medical said.
“If attacked, our pacemakers place themselves into a ‘safe’ mode to ensure the device continues to work,” Phil Ebeling, vice president and chief technology officer at St. Jude Medical, said in a statement. — José Vasquez
