New Gout Medication Gets Green Light from FDA
August 25, 2017
The FDA approved a two-drug combination treatment for gout from Ironwood Pharmaceuticals.
A form of arthritis caused by too much uric acid in the blood, gout can result in painful inflammation in the smaller bones of the feet, including episodes of acute pain.
The newly approved product, marketed as Duzallo, combines the standard for gout treatment, allopurinol, with the more recently approved lesinurad.
