FDA Approves Drug to Fight Complicated Urinary Tract Infections

The FDA approved Vabomere (meropenem and vaborbactam) for treating adults with complicated urinary tract infections, including pyeleonephritis, a bacterial infection of the kidneys.
Meropenem is an antibacterial and vaborbactam inhibits resistance to the drug by the bacteria.
Vabomere, administered by intravenous infusion, is sponsored by The Medicines Company.
