J&J Enters Robotic Surgery Market
Johnson & Johnson acquired robotic technology developer Auris Health in a $3.4 billion deal, further opening the door for J&J to enter the robotic surgery market.
The acquisition gives J&J ownership of the Monarch platform, a flexible endoscopic device cleared by the FDA in April 2018 that is currently used in bronchoscopic procedures.
In May 2018, J&J and Auris Health entered into a cooperative agreement to develop and commercialize robotic devices for controlling, navigating and applying microwave ablation via bronchoscopes by combining J&J’s NeuWave system with the Monarch platform.
