The FDA granted 510(k) clearance for Medtronic’s Accurian radio frequency ablation platform, which is used to remove nerve tissue.
The device is designed to conduct radio frequency ablation of a patient’s nerve tissue, a minimally invasive procedure in which radio waves heat up a small area of nerve tissue to end the transmission of pain signals.
The system uses power and temperature-controlling software to provide consistent, predictable lesion formation.
