The FDA has approved an auto-injector and a prefilled syringe for administering GlaxoSmithKline’s respiratory drug Nucala (mepolizumab) at home.
The approval makes GSK’s severe asthma treatment the first anti-IL5 biologic to receive the FDA’s greenlight for at-home administration and the first respiratory biologic that’s received U.S. approval for auto-injector administration.
The drug’s new at-home administration options will be rolled out quickly in the US, the drugmaker said.
