FDA Launches App to Identify New Uses for FDA-Approved Drugs
December 19, 2019
The FDA launched CURE ID, an app-based web repository that would allow healthcare professionals to report their off-label uses of FDA-approved drugs.
The app works by collecting a case report form from caregivers about their experience with off-label use of a product. Healthcare providers can browse through the database and also view relevant clinical trials at clinicaltrials.gov.
The agency hopes the app will be used as a connector among major treatment centers, academics, private practitioners, government facilities and other health care professionals and will help get treatment to patients more quickly.
CURE ID will be available through a website, smartphone, or other mobile device.
