The FDA cleared Olympus Medical’s TJF-Q190V device, a duodenoscope that includes a sterile, disposable distal endcap.
The device’s design responds to the FDA’s call for throwaway duodenoscopes to help prevent infections caused by insufficient reprocessing.
The duodenoscope’s single-use distal endcap covering is taken off and thrown away after the procedure, preventing reuse of the product.
