FDA Clears Baxter and COSMED’s Metabolic Measuring Device
The FDA has granted Baxter and COSMED 510(k) clearance for their Q-NRG+, a device that uses indirect calorimetry technology to measure a patient’s calorie needs.
The metabolic measurement tool is indicated for measuring resting energy expenditure by ventilated and spontaneously breathing patients.
The Q-NRG+ automatically calibrates after each use. The device is compact and portable, allowing it to be easily transported between hospital rooms.
