Sandoz and Bayer donated more than 31 million chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine doses to the National Stockpile as possible COVID-19 treatments.
Sandoz donated over 30 million doses of hydroxychloroquine sulfate while Bayer donated one million doses of chloroquine phosphate for use in treating hospitalized patients with COVID-19 or for clinical trial use.
The FDA granted an emergency use authorization to allow the products to be prescribed by doctors to hospitalized teen and adult patients with COVID-19 where a clinical trial is not feasible.
