Bharat Biotech Gets Indian Approval for COVID-19 Vaccine Trials
Bharat Biotech has received approval to begin clinical trials in India of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate. The trial will be the first for a COVID vaccine developed in that country.
The vaccine candidate, Covaxin, is derived from an inactivated strain of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that was isolated at India’s National Institute of Virology.
The Hyderabad-based company plans to begin phase 1/2 trials of Covaxin across India in July.
