UK Launches National Trial into Long-Term Health Impacts of COVID-19
The UK has begun a large clinical trial of the long-term health impacts on COVID-19 patients who were discharged from the hospital.
The PHOSP-COVID study aims to examine the impact of COVID-19 on patient health and recovery in order to develop strategies for clinical care including personalized treatments. It has received $10.4 million in UK funding.
The trial is expected to enroll around 10,000 recovered COVID-19 patients who were hospitalized. It is being led by the National Institute for Health Research (NIRH) Leicester Biomedical Research Center.
