3M and researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have teamed up to develop a rapid, low-cost COVID-19 test that can be mass produced.
The test would detect viral antigens and take just minutes to deliver results using a paper-based device. 3M said it anticipates being able to manufacture millions of tests per day with scaled up equipment.
The point-of-care test would not need to be sent to a laboratory for analysis, the company said.
