WHO Says 172 Countries Have Signed Up for its Vaccine Access Program
The World Health Organization said that 172 countries — out of the world’s total of 195 nations — are taking part in its Covax initiative, a global COVID-19 vaccine access program.
The WHO said that 80 potentially self-financing countries have expressed interest in the program so far, while 92 low- and middle-income countries are eligible to be helped.
The initiative currently includes nine vaccine candidates supported by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations and nine others are under consideration.
