Pfizer and BioNTech announced that they have completed initial talks with the European Commission to supply their investigational COVID-19 vaccine candidate, BNT162, to the EU.
Under the proposed supply agreement, the EU would purchase 200 million doses, with an option to buy 100 million more. The deal would represent the largest initial order of vaccine doses for Pfizer and BioNTech to date.
The vaccines would be produced at BioNTech’s German manufacturing sites as well as at Pfizer’s facility in Belgium.
