Roche announced that it is getting into the automated insulin delivery device market through a collaboration with Grenoble, France-based Diabeloop.
Diabeloop has developed a closed-loop insulin delivery technology that uses a self-learning algorithm to adjust the patient’s insulin dose. The company’s DBL-hu, an insulin management device for unstable type 1 diabetes, recently received CE mark certification.
“We are convinced that the potential of the hybrid closed-loop systems will contribute to a more efficient and personalized approach of diabetes management," said Marcel Gmuender, global head of Roche Diabetes Care.
