Hologic has received the CE mark for its Aptima CMV (cytomegalovirus) Quant assay, a blood test for post-surgery monitoring of organ or stem-cell transplant patients.
The in vitro test, which runs on the Marlborough, Mass.-based company’s Panther system, measures the viral load of cytomegalovirus to protect transplant patients, as elevated viral loads are associated with a higher risk of developing CMV disease.
Hologic says the Aptima CMV Quant assay is the first in its new line of assays for transplant patients.
