One of the first steps in validation planning is to obtain or develop product risk documents.
The documents should focus on user risk (clinician, patient and environment). They should follow ISO 14971, the standard that defines the requirements for a risk management system for medical devices. ISO 14971 also helps determine the standards for the safety of a medical device by the manufacturer during the product’s lifecycle.
