Three Generics Makers Settle Price-Fixing Allegations for $447 Million
Three manufacturers of generic drugs will fork over a total of $447.2 million to resolve federal price-fixing allegations.
From 2013-2015, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, Taro Pharmaceuticals USA, Sandoz and Apotex are alleged to have conspired to set prices on a number of popular generic drugs, including Apotex’s version of pravastatin.
The companies are alleged to have paid each other — and other, unnamed companies — to manipulate price, supply and customer allocations between 2013-2015.
