iSTAR Medical’s Glaucoma Implant MINIject Approved in Europe
Belgium-based iSTAR Medical’s minimally invasive implant for glaucoma surgery, MINIject, has been approved in Europe for treatment of open-angle glaucoma, the most common form of the disease.
Data from four trials sponsored by the company that enrolled more than 150 patients showed that MINIject provided “sustained intra-ocular pressure reduction” and a positive safety profile, the company said.
The FDA approved a U.S. trial of the implant in July, which will enroll more than 350 patients with open-angle glaucoma.
