Moderna COVID-19 Booster Increases Immune Response Against Omicron
Moderna said a 50µg booster dose of its COVID-19 shot increased neutralizing antibodies against the Omicron coronavirus variant by 37-fold when compared against a primary vaccination series, citing preliminary laboratory data.
In addition, the company said a 100µg third dose provided an 83-fold increase in neutralizing antibodies against the new variant compared with the initial two-dose regimen.
Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel said the company will “continue to rapidly advance an Omicron-specific booster candidate into clinical testing.
