Roche Gains CE Mark for the Use of Saliva Samples With Cobas COVID-19 Test
Roche has received a CE mark for its cobas SARS-CoV-2 qualitative test for the use of self-collected saliva samples in the detection of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on the company’s high-throughput cobas 6800/8800 systems.
The noninvasive test is suitable for people who require frequent testing, such as those working in high-risk environments, the company said.
The test allows patients to self-collect a saliva sample by following the instructions of a healthcare professional. By reducing physical contact, this method of sample collection can help decrease the risk of exposure to the virus for healthcare professionals, Roche said.
