Magnesium Development’s Resorbable Screw Designated a Breakthrough Device
Magnesium Development’s HC Screw has been designated a Breakthrough Device by the FDA.
The screw uses a magnesium alloy that is strong but doesn’t interfere with imaging or require future hardware removal procedures, according to the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based company.
The patented alloy, BioMg 250, contains a blend of magnesium and other elements essential for healthy bone formation, so they are eventually absorbed by the body over time.
