Cook Medical’s Drug-Eluting Stent Designated an FDA Breakthrough Device
A drug-eluting stent for below the knee — the latest innovation in Cook Medical’s peripheral artery disease products — has been designated a breakthrough device by the FDA.
The new stent is specifically designed to treat patients suffering from chronic limb-threatening ischemia, according to the Bloomington, Ind.-based company.
The stent features an advanced design that improves drug elution to improve blood supply in the lower limbs and that complements the company’s portfolio of below-the-knee products for limb preservation, Cook Medical said.
