Quantum Surgical Granted FDA’s 510(k) Clearance for Its Epione Cancer Treating Robot
Medical robotics company Quantum Surgical has received the FDA’s 510(k) clearance for its Epione, an interventional robot for minimally invasive liver cancer treatment.
The robotic-assisted technology is designed to plan, target, deliver and confirm tumor ablation, according to the Montpellier, France-based company. The percutaneous tumor ablations are a minimally invasive treatment in which a needle is inserted through the skin to the tumor to destroy it.
The company said it plans to extend indications for the Epione platform to other organs and is developing artificial intelligence-based decision-support features.
