Spartan Micro Center Wire for Endovascular Procedures Gets 510(k) Clearance
Spartan Micro, which develops endovascular-based devices for use by interventional radiologists, has received 510(k) marketing clearance from the FDA for its Spartan Center Wire.
The device is designed to provide distal fixation, solving problems with free-floating wires and reducing the risk of perforation.
The Spartan Center Wire is compatible with existing endovascular products and can be rapidly adopted to improve outcomes in stroke procedures, the Costa Mesa, Calif.-based company said.
“This device will enable a physician to exchange various catheters rapidly and safely during common peripheral vascular procedures,” said the device’s inventor, George Teitelbaum, who is president of Spartan Micro and regional director of neurointerventional surgery at the Pacific Neuroscience Institute in Santa Monica, Calif.
