3D Systems Awarded FDA Clearance for its VSP Bolus for Radiotherapy
3D Systems has received the FDA’s 510(k) clearance for its VSP Bolus for delivering 3D-printed accessories for radiotherapy treatments.
During radiation treatments, medical providers use a “bolus,” a flexible device that conforms to the patient’s skin. But off-the-shelf boluses can leave gaps between the device and the patient’s anatomy, leading to insufficient dosing or undesired radiation to adjacent tissue.
The VSP Bolus system delivers patient-specific boluses that reduce air gaps and improve the efficacy of the radiotherapy treatments, the Rock Hill, S.C.-based company said.
