Skin Analytics’ DERM Skin Lesion Software Wins UKCA Mark
Skin Analytics’ DERM skin lesion image analysis software has received a UKCA mark, the post-Brexit equivalent in Britain of the CE mark.
The artificial intelligence-based DERM (Deep Ensemble for the Recognition of Malignancy) software can identify the most common malignant, premalignant and benign skin lesions, including melanoma.
In a UK clinical study, the DERM software identified melanoma in 1,500 lesions with a similar accuracy to that of skin cancer specialists.
The AI software helps clinicians assess skin lesions and lets dermatologists review referred cases remotely, enabling them to direct patients to the best treatment option, the company said.
