Sanofi to Distribute 30 Drugs for Nonprofit Use
Sanofi has announced plans to provide 30 drugs considered essential by the World Health Organization on a nonprofit basis to 40 lower-income countries.
The 30 medicines, under the brand name Impact, include drugs for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, tuberculosis, malaria and cancer.
The medications will include insulin, glibenclamide — an oral hypoglycemic drug that stimulates the pancreatic beta cells to secrete insulin — and the cancer chemotherapy drug, oxaliplatin.
The program will be managed by Sanofi Global Health, a nonprofit unit within the company.
