Teleflex Acquires Standard Bariatrics and Its Stapling Technology
Wayne, Pa.-headquartered Teleflex is purchasing Cincinnati, Ohio-based Standard Bariatrics and its surgical stapling technology.
Teleflex will gain access to Standard Bariatrics’ FDA-cleared Titan SGS device, which is used in the surgical weight loss procedure sleeve gastrectomy.
The device delivers a continuous staple line of nine inches (23 centimeters) that leads to fewer chances of leaks, the company said.
Teleflex will pay $170 million upfront and Standard Bariatrics is eligible for up to $130 million in additional milestone payments. The acquisition is expected to be completed early in the fourth quarter of this year.
