Elekta Received CE Mark for Elektra Esprit Device
The Elekta Esprit, the latest radiosurgery system in the company’s Leksell Gamma Knife series, has received CE mark certification.
The Esprit offers sub-millimeter accuracy to target the smallest intracranial tumors and lesions with minimal effect on healthy tissue.
Designed as a “gentler alternative” to open surgery and conventional radiotherapy, the Esprit system features improved visualization, as well as remote accessibility and collaboration tools for the treatment team.
The Esprit can be used to treat a range of conditions, including multiple metastases, arteriovenous malformations, trigeminal neuralgia and vestibular schwannoma, the company said.
The device has not yet been cleared by the FDA for marketing in the U.S.
