Xenocor’s Enhanced Saberscope Gains FDA Clearance
Salt Lake City, Utah-based Xenocor has received FDA marketing clearance for an enhanced version of its Saberscope device.
The laparoscope features a disposable 5mm camera with a 90-degree articulating tip and a reusable video processor that works with any high definition monitor.
The enhanced device, which includes an autofocus feature, is the “the world's first true [high definition], fog free, articulating, single-use laparoscope,” according to the company.
The Saberscope system is cleared for use in laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery.
