Cord Submits PMA Application for SC9 Intraocular Lens in Cataract Surgery
Cord has submitted a premarket approval (PMA) application to the FDA for its Model SC9 intraocular lens for treating cataracts, a condition that clouds the lens in the eye.
Cataract surgery involves removing the cloudy lens and replacing it with an artificial lens. The SC9 lens is designed with a rigid structure to offer better intermediate vision than standard intraocular lenses.
Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based Cord supported its PMA application with positive results from a one-year Investigational Device Exemption study of more than 300 patients.
